We stayed at an airbnb in Shoreditch, which was described to us as the Williamsburg (Brooklyn) of London. Indeed, it was full of younger, artist types, and it was a pleasant place to stay (though expensive). Also check out my dedicated page to some of the street art in Shoreditch.
